its turning into a herd

I finished the Reindeer Hats for the boys, which I am really happy with, as it seems are people on Facebook. I posted a photo of the finished hats and it has already had 1906 views, Granny's World also picked up 8 new LIKES and a request from a friend for one for her granddaughter.

Hi also to the new followers to the blog. Thanks for taking the time to visit, don't forget to leave comments, as I love to know what people think, good or bad!

The boys are coming for the weekend so photos to follow of them wearing them.  If you want the pattern then here is the link

My next project is likely to be for Rufus, its a Sheep outfit for his Nativity play, check out the link it is so cute!!

Busy knitting

the needles are flashing at the moment, Christmas present knitting. I don't really have anything I can show you apart from a quick blurry peek.

I am also knitting Reindeer hats for the boys, the pattern is a free one from Yours Magazine.  I got one done for Rufus yesterday.  I am so pleased with this - the antlers are a bit wobbly, but I managed the crochet edge.  I am now scaling down the pattern so I can make one for Laurie too. They are coming to stay at the weekend so hopefully I can get them to model them.

My Christmas list still has a number of items on it, then I will be back to the cot blanket and ten stitch.

I just checked my projects on Ravelry, I have started 55 projects this year, of those only one is hibernating (Frilled Dress) and I have 3 WIPs (those mentioned above). I am pleased with my output and the fact that I have achieved so many finished projects.  What about you, how many projects have you achieved, and what is your favourite?  I think mine actually may be the current cot blanket, just for the happy colours, and its a joy to knit.

Take a top

I bought a cute little baby top from the GAP sale when I found out my youngest was having a baby, I then realised I really needed something to go with it.  I trawled through my patterns and came across the Vintage Utility Leggings in the Sublime 606 pattern book.  This was like a jigsaw puzzle to put together, but I am more than happy with the result.  The yarn I got at Ally Pally in October

Those works in progress and holiday knitting

I take my knitting on holiday whenever I can, and a cold autumn afternoon tucked up in our holiday house was the perfect place to knit.  I took with me the cot blanket, and managed to work up all the colours and start the 2nd repeat.

I knitted a couple of hats for Laurie

Sublime Vintage Racing Helmet from #606

Just a beanie with a made up pattern

Then a pair of leggings for Baby R, they are a bit of a jigsaw, it will be interesting to see how all the bits go together, the pattern is from Sublime 606 - Vintage Utility Leggings.  I have a cute little cream and wine striped top from GAP to go with these.

I didn't take the Ten Stitch but thought you might like to see how its coming along

I managed a bit of reading too, I am reading the Regeneration Trilogy by Pat Barker - and just started book 2 Eye in the Door, these books are about the effects of World War I on soldiers and civilians, very graphic and unsettling in parts and obviously very well researched.  Not something I thought I would enjoy but am pleasantly surprised.  Very topical right now with the 100th anniversary.

Southwold - our annual return

Just back from our annual visit to Southwold and for once the weather let us down. I know you can't expect good weather in November but apart from a short time on the first Sunday we didn't see the sun until Tuesday late morning and spent time dodging rain and high winds and with two lively little boys to entertain it wasn't easy at times!  Plus we were all ill at some point, colds, sick, earache.............. the joy!

Southwold, suffolk, pier

Anyway to prove that we did have some fun here are a few photos. I took 470!

It was an eventful 5 days but when they left on Wednesday afternoon the house was very quiet.  Peter and I managed a good walk on Thursday and Friday - these I will share in future posts.  Saturday and Sunday   heralded the return of the dull mizzly weather.

There was also knitting done too and this I'll share on Wednesday.  So keep checking back for updates
